Experience the highlights of the Zaan area in an open boat! Cruise along the 10 windmills while the skipper tells you everything you need to know about the history of the windmills, the area and the Netherlands in general.
Traditional Dutch Houses in 'Zaans Green'
You will sail past many traditional ‘Zaanse Houses’, which can be recognised by their green color. The houses can only be seen up close by boat and our skipper will tell you everything about these houses, including the secret to why they are green.
The Worlds Biggest 'Chocolate Factories'
Did you know the that the Zaan area has been the biggest Cacao processing area of the past centuries? You will sail past some of the biggest ‘Chocolate factories’ in the world, that proces the majority of the worlds Cacao. If the wind is in the right direction, your tour will be accompanied by the smell of chocolate. And if you are even more lucky, you will see the ‘Chocolate Boats’, that transport the Cacao between the factories!
Whale Hunting Facility
The Zaan area was infamous for their Whale hunting facilities and many of the houses on the Zaan still have some sort of references to whales. You will see an old Whale Hunting Facility, transformed into a beautiful restaurant.
